Chris is a researcher based in the UK. He works as a systematic reviewer and information retrieval expert on systematic and non-systematic reviews and other forms of evidence synthesis
Chris has worked on all kinds of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) reviews feeding into The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) assessment process, namely:
Multiple (MTA), Single (STA) and Fast-Track (FTA) Technology Appraisals;
Medical Technologies Evaluation Programme (MTEP);
Highly Specialised Technologies (HST), and
the Diagnostics Assessment Programme.
Chris has also worked on Public Health guidance for NICE, Cochrane systematic reviews, Qualitative Evidence Synthesis (QES), reviews of theory (including Realist Review), and other forms of evidence synthesis, such as scoping reviews, overviews (Review of Reviews) and mapping reviews.
Chris’ academic interest is assessing the impact of study identification methods on the synthesis of studies in complicated evidence synthesis. In plain language, does how you search alter the types of study you identify for review and, if you search differently, can you find better studies leading to better synthesis? (yes, is the answer).
Chris has published over 120+ journal articles, systematic reviews and reports: See here. He has been invited to lecture and teach on systematic reviews and literature searching nationally and internationally.
